| BMI only 1 indicator of obesity
Americans are forever finding new ways to measure themselves, and now we have another number over which to fret - the body mass index, or BMI.BMI claims to tell us how healthy we are (or aren't, as the case may be), and all of a sudden it's everywhere.People with BMIs greater than 40 can no longer adopt children from China. Models with BMIs lower than 18.5 have been banned from Madrid's runways and offered free meals in a London restaurant.British health officials have considered denying surgery to people whose BMIs are 30 or greater, and some life insurance companies increase their rates for people with elevated BMIs. .

McCoull Diets To Make Cup Weight
Thursday, 8 February 2007: Champion Tasmanian jockey Brendon McCoull is making every attempt to ride top local hope Rum Corps at his correct weight in Monday's $400,000 AAMI Hobart Cup. Rum Corps is weighted on the limit of 53kg in the Group 3 event but trainer David Brunton has already agreed to allow McCoull to ride the stayer half a kilogram overweight. Even so McCoull is following a strict brown rice and fish diet as he is pressed to ride below 54kg and wants to make the limit weight. "I want to get down to the 53kg," said McCoull, who won his first Hobart Cup in 2001 on the Charlie Goggin-trained Brorama Star. McCoull and Brunton are dominant forces in Tasmanian race and clearly have the leading local chance in the Hobart Cup after Rum Corps' impressive lead-up wins in the Brighton and Ingham Jockey Club Cups at his last two starts.
